Celestes for Sale

Victor Mustel invented the first celeste in 1886. It produced a warm sound resembling a combination of a glockenspiel and a metallophone. Tchaikovsky visited Mustel in Paris to hear the instrument. Fascinated by the unique sound, he ordered one and soon after composed NutCracker, “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy”. Today Schiedmayer and Yamaha are the only manufacturers. Jenco made a lower cost celesta offering a table top and upright model. Choose which celesta is right for you.
